Surf City Squeeze just opened on Bleeker between 7th and 6th avenue. Adding to the new food frenzy on Bleeker. The smoothies are really really good. A franchise yes, but good, clean, well-priced and a great addition to the neighborhood.

Worthy read. Thought provoking. Hopefully we have moved forward as a nation in accepting people for who they are on the inside.

Loved the first book, Shadow of the Wind, not so much The Angel's Game. The journey was much better than the end.
Abraham Verghese: Cutting for Stone: A novel
A huge book with a big story. Incredibly well written by a prolific author. I am going to go back and read his other books. Extraordinary novel.
Kathryn Stockett: The Help
Loved this book. The voice of black domestic help in the 1960's as we learn what it was like from their angle. First novel.
Geoff Dyer: Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi: A Novel
Came highly recommended. Lots of high praise from some serious writers on the cover. Didn't do it for me, at all. Alas.
